Gilda’s Club Chicago
Gilda's Club is named in honor of Saturday Night Live comedian Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989. She dreamed that all people affected by cancer, as well as their families and friends, would have access to the same kind of emotional and social support that she received during her illness. Gilda’s Club Chicago (GCC) creates a homelike meeting place where people are “members” not patients or caregivers and where families learn to live with cancer together. GCC provides free member-driven activities at their center and is expanding its presence at local medical centers. Annually serving more than 900 members through 200 separate member activities monthly, GCC’s programs include support and networking groups, workshops and lectures, social activities, children support groups and bereavement groups.
Serves nearly 3,000 members annually through 200 activities monthly
