Peer Health Exchange

Partnering with high schools in low-income communities, Peer Health Exchange (PHE) trains college students to deliver workshops that engage the teens in learning and practicing healthy behaviors. The goal of the program is to reduce risky behavior in teens such as binge drinking, smoking, unsafe sex, and unhealthy diet. Launched in Chicago in 2007, PHE reached more than 2,400 teenagers in the first two years. According to PHE, 89% of their high school students stated  that they plan to use their new knowledge to make a healthy decision in the future and 57% indicated that they already used the information learned in the health workshops.

Reaches over 1,000 teenagers each year
